9 days Kili & serengeti – Overview

9-day luxury Kilimanjaro tour, Serengeti migration and northern circuit safari

The great wildebeest migration is the best attractive migration ever seen in the world.

This migration takes a large number of wildebeests accompanied with number of gazelles (grant gazelles), zebras and impalas.

These herds of wildebeest migrating from Serengeti to Maasai Mara in Kenya then back to Serengeti. This migration occurs throughout the year where the animals moving in cycle for fresh grasses and water. While in migration there where many of them dying and other who will survives due to predators and exhaustion, (the strong one is the one will survive). This migration pulled by rainfall availability in this area which will lead to grown of new pastures. This is the natural world wonder spectacular to watch.

June – July: Migration is on Central Serengeti, Western Corridor, Grumeti River.

August – October: Migration is at Northern Serengeti, crossing Maasai Mara River to Kenya.

Other National parks to visit alongside Serengeti: Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro.

Accommodation nature: Tents camping (budget/comfort lodge can be opted)

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 00: Arrival.

Upon your arrival you will be welcomed by our office representatives at Kilimanjaro International Airport or/and any nearby airport that you will land on, followed by a private drive to the hotel in Moshi town. After having a short rest at the hotel, our safari guide will meet you to give brief information about next day’s safari and other important information.

Day 01: Mount Kilimanjaro tour.

You’ll have a full day tour to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, Marangu gate, followed by a short hiking to the first point Mandara hut and Maundi crater.

  • Hiking distance: 8km
  • Vegetation: Rain forest

If not interested in hiking, you can spend the rest of the day at Kinukamori waterfalls in Marangu small town.

Day 02: Full day game drive at Tarangire National Park

This tour will start from Moshi to Arusha then Tarangire NP, on this first day, drive  will be around 7am starting at your hotel. At Arusha city you will have time to do shopping before continuing 2 hours’ drive to enter Tarangire National Park

After registration process, you will have full day game drive within the Park, enjoy seeing flock of Birds, herds of Elephants, Buffalo, Zebra, Giraffe and more Wild animals, and if lucky you can see Lions and Leopards.

During evening times you will be exiting the park, heading to Mto wa Mbu town where you will have a rest, dinner and overnight.

Day 03: Drive to Serengeti.

Long drive from Mto wa mbu to Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro crater, have time to view the crater from the upper rim and an option to pay some visit at Maasai Boma or Oldupai Gorge with some extra payments. You’ll enter Serengeti Nabi gate afternoon hours, where you will spend half an hour for registration and lunch time, lunch boxes will be provided. Continue to game drive in Serengeti till late evening, drive to the lodge/campsite for rest, dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Full Day Game Drive Central Serengeti

Game drive will start early in the morning so you able to spot Leopards that are very rare to be seen during the afternoon times and also difficult to be

seen on the other National Parks. Game drive will continue up to afternoon where you will have a short rest for lunch before continuing up to late evening where you will be back to your lodge rest, dinner and overnight.

Day 05: Full day game drive in northern Serengeti (Migration)

Day 06: Full time game drive in northern Serengeti (Migration)

 Day 07: Half day game drive Serengeti

After breakfast you will have a half day game drive before exiting the Serengeti game en route to Ngorongoro for rest, dinner and overnight.

Accommodation Nature: tents camping

Day 08. Full Game Drive at Ngorongoro Crater

In the morning after breakfast you will start game drive at rim of the Crater before down-sloping to the Crater where you will discover the wonderful nature of creation. In the crater you will see different species of birds, hippo pools, and herd of Wildebeest, Zebra, Buffalo, Lions and black Rhino on its natural habitat and lucky you can see a Leopard and Cheetah. Afternoon times you will have a rest for lunch near big hippo pool before continuing with game drive until late afternoon when you will be exiting the park to Karatu town for rest, dinner and overnight.

Day 09:

Half day Lake Manyara National Park, later afternoon drive to Moshi/Arusha town for rest and overnight, if departure is the same day driver will drop you to airport at a given time.
