Overview 9 Days Kilimanjaro Climb and Safari
Destinations: Kilimanjaro Mountain NP, Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater.
Climbing duration: 6 days 5 nights Machame route.
Safari duration: 2 days one night Tarangire and Ngorongoro crater.
Detailed itinerary On 9 Days Kilimanjaro Climb and Safari
Day 01: Arrival.
Upon your arrival you will be welcomed by our office representatives at Kilimanjaro International Airport or/and any nearby airport that you will land on, followed by a private drive to the hotel in Moshi town. You will spend the remaining time of the day at the hotel for rest, dinner and overnight.
DAY 02: Kilimanjaro climbing, gears checklist.
From Hotel to Machame gate-Machame Camp.
Around 08:00am our professional mountain guide and the whole crew will meet you at the hotel for short briefing and checking your climbing gears and equipment, followed by an hour drive from then Moshi town to Kilimanjaro National Park-Machame gate passing through the villages located on the lower slopes of the Mountain. At the gate you will have to register all the important details like names, Nationality and passport number. While registration process is taking place, porters will be seen sorting and weighting the luggage. You will have spare time to move around taking photo and reading the historical information of Kilimanjaro Mountain on boards.
After all process being completed, you will slowly start hiking, to the first point, Machame camp, where you will spend the rest of the day for rest, dinner and overnight.
Distance from Machame gate to Machame camp hut is 11km and it can take you up to 5 hours hiking, and the trail is through Mountain rainfall forest.
DAY 03: From Machame Camp to Shira camp
After breakfast at Machame camp you will slowly hike up to the next camp, leaving the rain forest and entering the moorland vegetations. You will cross many streams and walk a rocky ridge onto Shira plateau that leads you to Shira camp, (3,840m). At the camp you will spend the remaining time for rest, dinner and overnight.
DAY 04: From Shira camp to Barranco Camp, via Lava Tower.
Leaving Shira after breakfast and start ascending to Barranco campsite, passing through moorland to semi desert and rocky landscape. A break for lunch will be at Lava Tower (4630m) before start to hike down to the camp (3950m). At this pass, climbers may experiences the effects of high altitude like headache and shortness of breath.
At Barranco Camp you will have a rest, dinner and overnight.
DAY 05: From Barranco camp to Barafu base camp via Karanga Valley Camp. (Summit overnight)
After breakfast at Barranco camp, the trail continues to Karanga Valley, crossing ridges and valleys. At Karanga camp, you will have a break for hot lunch, before continue hiking to Barafu base camp. At barafu camp you will have a dinner and early sleeping because you will awake at mid-night for summit attempt.
Around 01:00am, guide will awake you to get well prepared with the summiting gears, warm clothes that can accommodate up to -10 degree Celsius. After all process is done, guide will slowly lead you to hike up for the summit attempt, passing through Stella point, (5685m) to Uhuru Peak (5895).
The beginning of fifth day might caught you at Uhuru peak if the weather is good, you will be able to spend couple of minutes at the top, taking a beautiful lifetime photos while sunrises, drinking a tea on your thermal bottle before start descending down to Barafu camp.
At barafu camp you will have time to rest, before continuing to hike down to Millemium/Mweka camp for lunch, dinner and overnight.
DAY 07: (final day of the tour) From Mweka camp to Mweka gate.
It’s the end of 6 days in the jungle, morning of this day you will be packing all of your stuffs ready to leave the park. Crew will be seen organizing and sorting all stuffs for marking the end of the tour. They will be singing, celebrating and congratulating you for a successful climb. After all that you will hike down to Mweka gate, where you will sign out, and receive certificates for those who made their summit attempt successfully. An hour drive from the gate will drop you to the hotel in town, ready for rest and continuing with other schedule.
Evening hour’s safari guide will visit you at the hotel, briefing you about safari on the next day. You will have time to ask anything that you will be interested to know/see during safari.
Accommodation: Standard lodge/tents camping.
DAY 8. Lake Manyara/Tarangire National Park.
You have an option on choosing Game drive between the two National Park that mentioned (Lake Manyara or Tarangire NP). After a whole day game drive, you will exit the park during evening times heading to MtowaMbu town for rest, dinner and overnights.
DAY 9. From Mto wa Mbu town to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast at your hotel, your Safari driver-guide will be waiting you ready to start a drive to Ngorongoro National Park. You will spend couple of minutes at Ngorongoro main entrance gate for some registration and payment process. After registration you will start game drive at rim of the Crater before down-sloping into the Crater where you will discover the wonderful nature of creation. In the crater you will enjoy seeing different species of birds, hippo pools, and herd of wildebeest, Lion, Zebra, Buffalo, and black Rhino on its natural habitat. Lunch time will be at picnic site near large hippo pool, wash room service available too. Game drives continues, leaving the crater, passing the forest on the way up off crater, signing out and exiting the park, driving to Moshi/Arusha for rest and dinner or departure.
